Closets were not common in early homes. Large armoires held most items of clothing.

The washstand with china pitcher, basin, soap dish, shaving accessories, etc., provided a convenient place to perform daily rituals such as washing your face or shaving.

The Eastlake style bed was made by Brown Brothers Furniture of Berea in the 1890’s. The coverlets on the bed were woven in 1839.

Ladies accessories include the curling iron, crimper, (no electricity) powder box and hair receiver. Hair was saved to fill in her hair dos, stuff pin cushions and used for hair wreaths, as found on the wall.
